(Washington, DC): America’s health care is in crisis according to ABC News and USA Today. 46 million Americans lack health insurance. So how should America tackle its growing health care crisis? Some have suggested that adopting a universal system, like most European states and Canada have, is the solution. On paper it looks simple: anyone can go to the doctor at anytime and be treated. The reality is quite different, as four European health care experts revealed at a briefing on Capitol Hill held Oct. 18. You can view the event webcast here.

These experts, who hail from Switzerland, Sweden, and the UK, explained how universal health care is coming under pressure in Europe, as Europeans demand better care, better access to medicines and the end of waiting lists.

To learn more, interview or discuss universal health care with any of these European experts, please contact Sonia Blumstein at soniab@ipi.org or 205.620.2087.

Below is a list of the four European health experts and their affiliations:

The experts also contributed to a new report, "The Dangers of Undermining Patient Choice: Lessons from Europe and Canada." You can view that report here.
