Does Communism Create Economic Wealth?

Dr. Merrill Matthews of the Institute for Policy Innovation says: it did for one man.

There’s an old saying: Capitalism is the unequal distribution of wealth, but communism is the equal distribution of poverty.

Except, of course, when it comes to . . . Cuba’s Fidel Castro.

Forbes magazine reports that the arch-communist dictator is worth an estimated $900 million. That’s up form the $550 million estimate last year.

Why so much? It’s based on his control of state-owned companies.

It’s the same old story of countless revolutionaries who started out to do good, and ended up doing well.

Castro denies it’s true. But there’s no denying that Cuba is dirt-poor, while Castro lives like a king.

Some South American leaders are looking to Castro as a model for their countries. At least now we know why.
