DALLAS – Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai will deliver remarks on Thursday at an Institute for Policy Innovation lunch in Irving on “preserving a free, open and innovative Internet.”  This appearance follows the chairman’s trip to Harvey-impacted areas in south Texas, inspecting damage caused by the hurricane and monitoring the progress of communications infrastructure restoration.

In his keynote remarks at IPI’s Hatton W. Sumners Lecture Series event, Chairman Pai will focus on his plans to roll back the Obama administration’s Title II broadband regulations and his vision for preserving a free, open and innovative internet.

“We are delighted to be hosting Chairman Pai in his first major visit to Dallas since taking the helm of the FCC, especially at this important time when the agency is pursuing a less regulatory, more market-based approach to the Internet economy,” said IPI President Tom Giovanetti. “And we’re particularly pleased to be doing so through the Hatton W. Sumners Distinguished Lecture Series, which makes nationally recognized thinkers and policy makers available to students and the general public in the north Texas area.”

IPI’s Hatton W. Sumners Lecture Series lunch takes place at noon on Thursday, September 7, at the Omni Mandalay Hotel in Las Colinas. Tickets are still available.

The Institute for Policy Innovation (IPI) is an independent, nonprofit public policy organization based in Irving. Questions regarding IPI's Hatton W. Sumners Distinguished Lecture Series, please contact Erin Humiston at (972) 874-5139, or erin@IPI.org.
