Extreme Winters Show Americans Still Have Strong Need For Fossil Fuels (Audio: Interview)

How well would Boston be doing this winter if its energy use was restricted only to that of wind and solar power sources?

Most states have renewable energy mandates that utilities must meet, and it may not be long until a city or state requires that most or all be from those sources. But as Merrill Matthews points out on The Chad Benson Show, Americans' need for fossil fuels becomes particularly strong as the temperature drops, and (for now) alternative sources simply can’t create enough energy to help Americans through extreme winters.
