18 Months After the VA Scandal, Not Much Has Changed for Veterans

WFAA

In this video from reporter Jason Whitely at WFAA-TV in Dallas-Fort Worth, IPI’s Dr. Merrill Matthews says not much has changed in the Veterans Administration 18 months after news of its VA hospital wait-time scandal first broke.

“They have achieved really nothing other than the fact that they say they’re doing a better job, but the statistics and waiting times show they have not solved this problem system-wide,” said Matthews. “You want to let veterans have a chance to step outside the system completely.”

Matthews lists two impactful solutions—providing veterans with private insurance or enrolling them in the Federal Employees Benefits Health Plan—in a statement here.
