Court's Ruling Lets Public Decide On Obamacare Repeal & Replace

DALLAS – Today’s Supreme Court decision upholding Obamacare’s federal subsidies may be a disappointment, but it paves the way for the American people and the legislative branch to appropriately have the final say on changing or repealing the health care law.
“If Obamacare fails, it's best that the American people drive that change through their elected representatives, not a panel of nine justices,” said Institute for Policy Innovation (IPI) resident scholar Merrill Matthews, Ph.D.
“Having the Supreme Court be the one to single-handedly undermine the president’s health care law was never the best approach; it would have further politically charged the issue and liberals would have pinned the blame solely on the Court if the law foundered.”
Matthews says today’s ruling has only energized legislative members and Republican presidential hopefuls to fully repeal and replace, or at least bypass, the law to allow provisions for the majority of Americans to choose a health insurance option outside of Obamacare’s coverage mandates.
