Institute To Hold Town Hall In Irving

Dallas Morning News

The Institute for Policy Innovation will host a town hall meeting at its offices in Irving, 1320 Greenway Drive. The location is in the first floor conference room in Tower 1320.

The speakers will be State Sen. Don Huffines, Irving Mayor Beth Van Duyne and institute president Tom Giovanetti. The topic is “Local Control vs Liberty.”

They will talk about local control issues versus the role of government. They will focus on how political subdivisions – such as cities, counties, and special districts – pursue regulatory policies which unduly restrict the choices of Texans and hobble economic freedom. They feel this can be problematic when those restrictive local policies violate, contradict or undermine state laws.

They will advocate that the Texas Legislature must continue to safeguard liberty and economic freedom, protect the property rights of Texans, and remove burdensome regulations that drive up the cost of living and hinder job creation. They argue it is imperative that Texas strike a balance between local control and liberty.
