IPI Joins Conservative Texas Budget Coalition

Giovanetti: Time for Bold Policies; 'Not Enough' For TX Lawmakers to Keep Coasting

DALLAS – The Institute for Policy Innovation (IPI) is pleased to join the Conservative Texas Budget Coalition with fourteen other groups to promote economic growth, job creation and more opportunity for Texans.

In a statement, IPI president Tom Giovanetti said the following:

“It's not enough for Texas conservatives to pat themselves on the back about outperforming California, or otherwise coast on our generally low tax and light regulatory environment. It’s time for the Texas Legislature to enact bold, forward-looking policies to further invigorate the Texas economy and ensure that Texas is a powerhouse of growth and opportunity into the next decade.

One such bold policy is to implement the Conservative Texas Budget policy framework, which would eliminate the margins tax and impose a rational spending limitation. Furthermore, the legislature should limit the growth in property taxes, or indeed reduce the property tax burden on Texans.

Have no doubt— without the determined efforts of true conservatives in the Texas Legislature, the “go along, get along” caucus will simply spend more money and continue to pat themselves on the back. In the November election, Texas voters endorsed new blood and a disruption of the status quo. It's time to see it.

Remember why you were sent to Austin."

The Institute for Policy Innovation (IPI) is an independent, nonprofit public policy organization based in Dallas. IPI president Tom Giovanetti is available for interview by contacting Erin Humiston at (972) 874-5139, or erin@ipi.org.
